Neutral Tones Bring Calm

Mary’s clients wanted to start from scratch and update their family room. Her style was very neutral and she wanted clean lines giving a calm, peaceful feeling. The couple needed plenty of seating for when the kids come home from college, and wanted to pull color from the new stone fireplace. They also receive very strong sun in the afternoon and needed to block out the light.

Project Overview:

Mary designed the room with a comfortable plush sofa in a neutral performance fabric, new electric recliners  and swivel chairs provide plenty of seating for the family to enjoy. The large leather ottoman serves as a coffee table as well as extra seating. The contemporary patterned area rug blends the colors from the stone fireplace and anchors the room. Room darkening shades on the windows cut down on the strong sunlight coming in while keeping the light, neutral feel. Soft textured sheer drapery in a light grey adds  elegance and enhances the height of the room. A playful fabric on the barrel back swivel chairs bring soft energy to this transitional family room.
